THE CHURCH TODAY.
Following the restoration the church St. Peter’s has been used for a variety of community activities. The church is well equipped for music, the arts, and other cultural events. It not only has a splendid organ, but also a grand piano, staging, stage lighting, amplification and a loop system. It boasts very fine surroundings for events, with a well equipped kitchen and ample toilet facilities including a toilet for the disabled.
The church is available for hire to approved organisations and persons.
The church also runs a series of Saturday morning music recitals at 11 am throughout the year and is often used by many musical societies for concerts. It is the home of the Burnley and Pendle Music Society and the Pendle Forest Association of the National Trust for its series of illustrated lectures.
The church has an enthusiastic choir which sings for the morning service and for evensong each Sunday. It also meets for rehearsal at 7.30 pm each Friday evening.
The church has a completely rebuilt William Hill organ, which is available for use by competent organists by appointment.
The Mothers’ Union meets at 2 pm on the last Wednesday in the month.
The church has a peal of ten bells and these are rung regularly.
The church also has a support organisation, namely ‘ the Friends of St. Peter’s’ which not only supports the church financially but also has several varied events each year.
